The Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium (BCSC) risk model program can be used to estimate a woman's five- and ten-year risk of developing invasive breast cancer. Refer to the BCSC Risk Calculator Introduction and the reference below for more detail.

Important note:

The BCSC risk model code is intended to estimate risk for populations of women or to perform population-level analyses. If the intended use of the software is to calculate individual risk for a woman, “unknown” should not be allowed as a response for the question “Has the woman had prior breast biopsies?”. Source code used for the BCSC risk calculator that does not allow for an unknown response to prior breast biopsies can be obtained by emailing scc@ghc.org.

Software Download:

The current software is version 2.0 and contains five SAS program files:

(1) bcscrisk_v2.sas, bxresult_fmt.sas7bdat, density_fmt.sas7bdat, famhx_fmt.sas7bdat - source code to estimate 5- and 10-year risk of invasive breast cancer based on the BCSC risk model.

(2) BCSC_risk_score_sample_calling_program_v2.sas - sample program that creates an input dataset, runs the BCSC risk model program, creates an output dataset with risk scores, and produces summary statistics.
